FLYLEAF

FLYLEAF

8/10

this album fucks so hard and i feel like no one likes to talk about it because everyones got a grudge against christian rock

(and also the lead singer supports conversion therapy but also like cmon youve gotta expect the worst sometimes...)

anyways! production wise this is really competent to say this is their first full album. i really love how grungy the guitar gets, it's kind of a staple for all of their music (from what ive heard im not like a number one flyleaf head you're totally allowed to rip me apart if im wrong) and i fuck with it heavy.

honestly i love the overt messaging theyve got. theyre a christian band, they arent trying to trick you or appeal to the seccular masses and while it's not MY faith i fuck with how apparent they are about it.

despite the controversy around her, the lead singers really competenet when it comes to vocals. i don't know about her or the rest of the band and honestly i do not care enough to look it up. she's really good at getting emotions in her vocals, it's something you don't notice until someone is either really good at it or REALLY FUCKING BAD LMAO (looking at you eating out your girlfriend era patrick stump theres some HARD MISSES)

anyways, good album overall there were two songs that kinda blew up a few years back and while theyre not MY personal favorites i CAN see why they blew up. although i gotta say digging deeper into some of their music (im talking about cassie this is most definitely about cassie) it gets kind of like... itll throw you for a loop. i've got my own opinions about the song and the message about it but this is an album review not breaking down each song.

i love sorrow though honestly i'd have to say thats like the album highlight. lead singers fucking killing it vocally there. honestly it's just a great song on a very good album

TAKE THIS TO YOUR GRAVE

FALL OUT BOY

7/10

truthfully. no exaggeration. this album changed my brain chemestry.

IT SOUNDS INSANE WHEN I SAY IT LIKE THAT CAUSE I GAVE IT A MEASLY 7/10

listen. it's complicated. OBJECTIVELY out of all the Pre-H albums, it's the worst. BUT YOU'VE GOTTA REMEMBER HOW FUCKING INSANE THE PRE H ALBUMS GO.

like. oh my god.

honest to god, when i was first listening to fall out boy i was trashtalking this album HARD AS FUCK which like, some of my "complaints" still stand. it DOESNT really stand much when compared to their other early stuff. like it's not anything groundbreaking like i'd consider folie, infinity, and corck tree. but it's still charming when you take it for what it is.

honestly, this one's so dear in my heart because it's so juvenile lol

that sound's like a diss BUT IT'S NOT. im mostly referring to the songs patrick wrote when i call it juvenile. like those we're very obviously written by a teenager but i like it. thinking about how he was the same age as me when this album was being made makes me wanna CRY OAUDHAISU MY GODDDDD

i shouldve been there I THINK ABOUT HOW I WASNT EVERYDAY FUCK BRUH but like... i'd be a millenial who the fuck wants that? lmao

pete screams so much on this album i swear everytime i listen to it i feel like everytime he screams is a little treat just for me and im getting SPOILED lol

also i can't stop thinking about "he's well hung and i am hanging up" like that's the gayest shit you could've said about the situation
